Glass Half Full or Empty?

Total fitness conceptually requires a positive mental outlook and thus approach. When you wake up in the morning these days it's especially challenging to locate that feel good news story. According to the media that just doesn't sell. Even our spotty positive news stories are more heroic as in the recent Plane Crash where everyone survives. A good story from a potential disaster the magnitude that no one wants to see in their lifetime.

We wake up in the morning and read about job loss and consumer confidence on the downturn. Well I believe if you hear something enough times it can become your way of thinking and your prevailing attitude and approach to everything you attempt. So I ask everyone, is your glass half full or half empty?

Seven years ago the mere talk of the "Bubble bursting" would cause people to turn their heads. Sell your house and go to a rental property even five years ago was looked at with negative emotions. Nothing last forever right? Well, when enough people started to think negatively about the economy guess what? A shift occurs. Now we know there were other elements a foot but this crisis was and will be emotionally fueled for quite some time. Until we hit bottom, how's that for positive thinking, companies won't reverse their hiring trends set forth over the past 2 years. Whew. So let's start talking about the glass half full!

We have a lot to look forward to. A whole new industry in right before our eyes. The beauty of which is over two decades in the making. The Green Industry. Been around a long time. We just never had the time for it. Boy do we now. Who wouldn't install Solar for under $7,500 for their home right now? But we charge 40,000 today and wonder why isn't everyone lining up to get their install date?

If we act on the Green Industry right now and hit it hard we can explode the huge benefits of Renewable Energy once and for all. The byproduct of all this will be crude oil under $10/barrel. Yes, if we move swiftly and adopt 70% of our energy needs to Renewables this will happen. Simple supply and demand. No costal drilling. The planet will reduce ozone issues across the globe. Electric cars powered by the Sun, Wind and mother earth (thermal).

So, let's get everyone touting Green. Let's get off this half empty feeling. Create enthusiasm around everything Renewable. Watch this movement take hold in short order. We have the technology and we have the need!

We look forward to your comments.

The Body Fitness Puzzle

Total fitness of mind and body. A committment to exist but with the knowledge and capability to eat healthy and protect the environment at every turn. The puzzle of life. We have to eat so we do. But are we educated enough to really understand the needs of the body internally?

For the medical professionals I would say perhaps. Not necessarily 100% either. Keeping up with the latest trends and medical discoveries is a full time job. So how do all of us cope? The recession is driving families to re-think their jobs, homes and family plans. How many people have been impacted by the collapse of our banking system over the past 12+ months?

I know, the banks didn't collapse fundamentally. But emotionally and from a support perspective they are no where to be found in this current economy. Money wasted. Jobs lost. All of this stressing out the population to levels rarely seen before or for that matter since the Great Depression.

Now is the time to focus on the body. Total fitness is a way of life. Understanding the bodies needs and curbing the sensations that drive most if not all of us to Candy Cane Lane even when we really are not hungry to being with. Three major components to focus on:

1. Healthy Foods
2. Exercise
3. Sleep

Mastery of these three and you are well on your way to long and healthy life. Did I mention that having success with these three categories will also result in a more positive and energetic self being? You will wake up refreshed and ready to go. Need a job? How about creating a job. No time like the present. If you have worked in the past or even have a passion that you love and embrace you can build a business. We did. You are reading it now. Planet Berry LLC was launched in May 2007 as a Health and Wellness portal of information. Focusing on issues and trends that impact our lives and our Planet's existence. No small challenge but one that we are passionate about and committed to continual learning.

We started simple. Focusing on the body and the impact that our food and exercise/fitness decisions had on our well being. From there you all jumped in and either wrote to us or wrote your own article online in one of our many forums. Heck, some of you even created your own forum on Planet Berry. We love it. The results are a total learning and sharing environment that benefits everyone hopefully.

We look forward to your comments.

Generation Lost On Communication

Today's youth have lost the art of face to face communication skills. They have completely fallen prey to the text messaging craze that was once a business tool for pure paging and is now the substitute for conversation as we know it.

Look around. It's everywhere. There isn't a child in middle school or high school that isn't affected by all of this. The real problem is that one day they will have to carry on as all adults do and speak. Speak for themselves, their family, perhaps their company. But at age 30 they will have spent 18 to 30 years thumbing their conversations. Is this progress?

What if, now pause before we all go nuts, what if we authroized our schools to collect all cell phones at the door. Stop the texting. Make the children talk. When I was in school teachers would have loved to have had something to shut us up. Well ask and receive. Now as I watch the situation grow even more challenging the switch has taken place and we are way too far to the right on this one.

We need to ease our children back into engaging straight talk. No texting. Just honest to good tying up the land lines. Take back what was once a Teenagers right of passage the home phone. Get them talking before we have a generation of single word replies or perhaps two : "uh ha". That one is very popular when we ask a question.

All out effort and we take back our childrens ability to communicate. Won't be easy but think about the pluse up we get with the family closeness all of this will bring. Enjoy the talks.

We look forward to your comments.

America's Beloved Media

I'm sure I don't speak for all but I for one am damm tired of our Media and it's doomsday approach to our current state of affairs. I'm watching Good Morning America on CBS and even with their Editor In Chief on the panel they can't seem to get a single "spin" in a positive direction.

Ok, I'm sure you could say that Nothing is good right now. That is just not true. We have the potential to achieve a complete rebound from this very dark period. But that's the point. This is a period of time. It is not the End of Time. We all need to adjust but if everyone put their money under the mattress as CBS would suggest then they are actually hurting themselves. We need to invest. We need to look forward not backwards.

Republicans lost the White House. Get over it. We need to support the Administration right now. Whether you agree or disagree with Obama or not we all need to give his policies an opportunity to succeed. The prevailing winds of doom and gloom are driving the average American to react as if the news was 'forever' not a moment in time.

We caused this. We trusted the banks. We trusted the "System". We all watched as neighborhoods grew up over night with ARM's being produced for under qualifying families to live the American Dream per Bill Clinton. The current problems we are seeing and talking about are rooted back in his administration and not questioned or adjusted during the Bush administration.

Now, here's the real problem. Healthcare. Imagine if we were able to invest the kinds of money we are dumping in the banks into our healthcare system. Obesity is growing at an alarming rate. State budgets are blown out and are now contracting thus taking money from important areas such as School programs. This will be the end of our financial system not the current run.

So, back to the topic. This won't apply to everyone but think about he relative level of the Dow Jones and NASDAQ markets. Historically low as compared to the past 3-4 years. Glass half full or empty? I say invest. I say we should all be taking our available discretionary funds and buying into this market. Is it at the bottom? Who cares. Buying now and buying monthly is the right way to go. These are my opinions but if you have greater than 10 years to retire like I do then this could be your retirement like never before. I plan to double up as much I can in my 401k and IRA accounts to the fullest the law will allow.

Time is both our friend and our enemy. I say half full. What say you?
