Total fitness conceptually requires a positive mental outlook and thus approach. When you wake up in the morning these days it's especially challenging to locate that feel good news story. According to the media that just doesn't sell. Even our spotty positive news stories are more heroic as in the recent Plane Crash where everyone survives. A good story from a potential disaster the magnitude that no one wants to see in their lifetime.
We wake up in the morning and read about job loss and consumer confidence on the downturn. Well I believe if you hear something enough times it can become your way of thinking and your prevailing attitude and approach to everything you attempt. So I ask everyone, is your glass half full or half empty?
Seven years ago the mere talk of the "Bubble bursting" would cause people to turn their heads. Sell your house and go to a rental property even five years ago was looked at with negative emotions. Nothing last forever right? Well, when enough people started to think negatively about the economy guess what? A shift occurs. Now we know there were other elements a foot but this crisis was and will be emotionally fueled for quite some time. Until we hit bottom, how's that for positive thinking, companies won't reverse their hiring trends set forth over the past 2 years. Whew. So let's start talking about the glass half full!
We have a lot to look forward to. A whole new industry in right before our eyes. The beauty of which is over two decades in the making. The Green Industry. Been around a long time. We just never had the time for it. Boy do we now. Who wouldn't install Solar for under $7,500 for their home right now? But we charge 40,000 today and wonder why isn't everyone lining up to get their install date?
If we act on the Green Industry right now and hit it hard we can explode the huge benefits of Renewable Energy once and for all. The byproduct of all this will be crude oil under $10/barrel. Yes, if we move swiftly and adopt 70% of our energy needs to Renewables this will happen. Simple supply and demand. No costal drilling. The planet will reduce ozone issues across the globe. Electric cars powered by the Sun, Wind and mother earth (thermal).
So, let's get everyone touting Green. Let's get off this half empty feeling. Create enthusiasm around everything Renewable. Watch this movement take hold in short order. We have the technology and we have the need!
We look forward to your comments.

Anyone who believes that we can reduce oil consumption by 70% in our lifetimes does not understand reality. There is a huge infrastructure to extract, proces, and distribute oil and it will take us decades to reduce this dependancy. Absolutely we should go green where ever we can - but just be realisitc about how quickly oil can be replaced by green alternatives.
If we do not start today we will never get there! Renewable energy has so many potential directions but the problem it faces is both Skill Set and as you note the feasibility to change. It won't happen over night. But it will die hard if the Governments back off the pedal. I don't think we are in disagreement. Passion is needed to promote the leadership.
Renewal energy has to get started somewhere. James Earl Carter was elected to the office of president in 1976. He believed then that we should be able to have an electric car working within 25 years. Using old fasion math that would have put us at 2001. Yet, no one picked up the cause.
President Carter didn't stay in office long enough to see the electric car become the main form of transporation, but he did pass a national law that allows us to make a "right-turn-on-red". Nothing like having a legacy. I suppose part of this is my fault, as I did not vote to re-elect him. The fact that he and my father were cusions wasn't enought to earn the vote.
It takes visionaries to move a mountain. We have to move a century of OIL based thinking. No we cannot relieve the Nation or Nations of the world of oil over night. We won't do it in a year. But in my opinion, we have to start now.
We have the technology. We have the need. Tomorrow the price of oil will be at some level. We have to stop thinking of just the current ROI report. It is as dangerous to our future as any single mindset I have seen.
Renewable energy needs to be invested in. Not at the 30 percent level but at the 70 percent level over the next 20 years. The goals are very low right now. The infrastructure needs a complete upgrade and in my belief a re-design entirely.
Hybrid designs in Micro Grid thinking networks of energy combined with the latest technologies in Energy Storage is the key. There are many companies that can support this today. Do we have the government team to move this ball forward? Fast? Is it a combination of Private and Public funds? You bet it is.
More people thinking in this direction will bring the best the of the best together designing our children's energy needs in the future. And their kids too!
One person opinion.
I have to agree somewhat on the Start Now points. We have been talking for so long about renewable and only when oil spikes do we seem to move but then no follow through. Im sad that this is where we are. We should be doing renewable energy everywhere.
Can our current grid transmission lines handle more energy?
Hmmm
The Government is shell shocked in America. Europe did it right the first time and is way ahead. America needs to pull it up now or forever pay the Middle East price of the day. Get with it USA!
I agree. Europe made a decision. America can't understand the question nor the problem. We talk it to death. The Middle East loves us for this.
Wake up America. Germany which is probably the last country to even think of investing in Solar is decades ahead and now Spain and Greece are right on their heels. Keep watching us grow less dependent on fossil fuel. Hey, then only China and America will need it and you will have plenty.
Casey
Wow interesting view on this topic. Everyone else goes green and China and the USA get all the oil since they will need it given their lack of investment in renewable. How sad that could be and how relevant it is becoming.
Can the Obama Spy patrol get out of its own way and let the private sector make this happen? Germany has Solar at over 30% and they have the least sun days of any country go figure.
