Teenage Obesity

Listening to several medical professionals it is becoming quite clear that the current generation of teenagers will NOT out live their parents. This is not only sad but frightening. These children are growing up obese and in most cases morbidly so.

What this also means is that as they have families their life experiences will be passed on to their children and so on it goes. Watching and listening to the famed Dr. Oz on the Oprah channel is becoming his number one topic for months. What to do about all these over weight teenagers who are about to enter the Health System on the wrong foot.

Is it too late for this generation? No. Education has never been easier with the advent of the media's expansion with iTunes and the internet itself we have the technology that if we focused our attention on the big picture we could create message products that export to these devices that our children are so accustomed to and begin the same type of campaign as the Seat Belt syndrome of the 1970's and 1980's.

When is the last time you saw a child NOT put on their seat belt? Well, when I grew up some of the cars didn't even have the belts. They just were not there. Today, my kids and their friends are buckling up faster than I do. It's the law. Well, to save our children maybe we take on the same approach but not to such an extreme as making it a set of laws on obesity.
